09 May Your Guide To Securing A Mini Chopper To A Trailer

Have you ever tried securing your street legal mini chopper to a trailer? If you have, then you must know that it is not much of a difficult task. However, if you haven’t, you are going to need some solid assistance. We are here to provide you just that, a complete guide to securing your mini chopper to the truck bed or the trailer. But in order to start, you need certain things beforehand that are:

Trailer or pickup truck

     Motorcycle tie down straps

      Motorcycle ramp

      A couple of friends

      A few minutes

So, are we ready? Then, let’s get started:

1.Place the ramp on trailer

To start with, simply push the motorcycle ramp up against the edge of either the truck bed or trailer whichever you are using. In case you don’t have a motorcycle ramp, you can make use of a heavy piece of lumber that should be around 1X8 foot. Put this lumber piece at the edge of trailer, to use it as a ramp so that you can push your street legal mini chopper onto a flat surface.

2.Push it up the ramp

Make sure you never try to ride the bike up the ramp or the piece of lumber because you can fall off and suffer severe injuries. To make the whole pushing the bike task easier, ensure that your mini chopper is in neutral. Once you do that, you and your friends can push the bike up on the ramp or on the piece of lumber onto the trailer.

3.Secure your mini chopper

You are going to need at least four motorcycle tie down straps to properly secure your bike. Firstly, take one end of the strap and attach it to the hook on the trailer or you can connect it to another anchor inside the truck bed. Now, attach the end of another strap to a sturdy and stable place of your bike. This way, you have to put two straps on the front of your street legal mini chopper and two straps on the rear.

Once all the straps are put in their place, use a tightening device like ratchet to tighten the straps so that the bike doesn’t move. The mini chopper should be in a straight  up and down vertical position. Moreover, when securing the bike with straps, do not use the kickstand. Once more, check the straps that they are tightly secured and the bike doesn’t move.

4.Remove the ramp

As you have secured your street legal mini chopper, now remove the lumber or the motorcycle ramp. If you made use of a pickup truck to haul your bike, make sure you close the tailgate. You also have to ensure that all the items that may move around when driving, are removed from the bed of the truck. Otherwise, these items can cause damage to your mini chopper during the transport.

So, this is how you secure your street legal mini chopper to the trailer or a truck bed. Just make sure you keep caution to the safety of your friends and yourself. Have a fun ride on your mini chopper!
